(Denver, CO)

Hiiii friends sorry being MIA. It’s been a VERY cold start to January for me here, i mean literally FREEZING. Like -10 degrees freezing. This is my first real winter and even though i am actually really loving the snow i am really adjusting to life in the cold cold. Super have to make an effort to get out of the house when it’s so warm and cozy inside. I feel like i’ve been talking so much about my feelings recently in life and in love and im proud of me for growing into a nice, mature young woman. Good start to the year. <3

The vibe:

ree

Snow, ravioli, and not getting enough sleep.

Doing:

Went to the Denver rodeo last weekend. This thing was huge, and unfortunately we spent 80% of the time walking back and forth from the different arenas lol and missed most of the actual rodeo (barrel racing, bronc riding, etc.) but still so fun and cool. Amazing vendors like some of the coolest boots, and hats, and jewelry (all the chunky turquoise silver stuff that i love.) so cowboy core i can’t wait for the summertime to go to all the rodeos.

Wearing:

More cowboy vibes, I've just been in a western mood. Got to do a whole blog post for my side gig store job about rodeo outfits, really did a little deep dive into it and im obsessed with this designer Nudie Cohn, “The Original Rhinestone Cowboy.” Think like original Elvis Presley and currently Post Malone or Lil Nas X. All of his stuff is so cool and recreated all the time. I want my own Nudie suit.

Watching:

Been obsessively binging SWAT on netflix i think i watched it for like 6 hours in a row last weekend without moving off the couch. I love shows like this and Hondo is my crush <3 it’s about the LA swat team, and its always extra fun to watch a show about a place youve lived in. They’re so cool lol “This is LAPD SWAT drop your weapons NOW”

Eating:

Continuously continuing my hunt for the best restaurants in Denver. Had 2 major misses and 2 major wins last week. I’m kind of scared of a stalker right now;

But i will still put you all on to the good spots; The Bindery and Daughter Thai, both got like 10/10 in my spreadsheet. My new scale for places out here is “would i eat this in Ny or CA” and i would definitely go to both these places. Great food, good ambience. (do not go to Sushi Ronin, that one was a mega miss, Lo Stella was also a HUGE miss like actually bad i barely ate my food even though i did see Russel Wilson and Ciara here.)

My current cooking obsession, breadcrumbs in pasta. I really wasn’t sure about this one but i kept seeing it in all my cooking videos and I tried it and its so good. Just toast your panko breadcrumbs in some butter and top on any kind of pasta (i did w my fresh pesto and then also with just like a more plain mushroom pasta). It adds like the nicest little texture crunch.

Also did some fresh pasta making with my friends (which started out rly disastrous but ended up rly delicious) – butternut squash, miso, ricotta ravioli with sage butter sauce. Thank you sister for my new ravioli stamp. <3 This was really a slay. I was also unsure about the miso in pasta but it was so good.

Reading:

Bridgerton is one of my fav shows and i picked up one of the books today. I didn’t know it started as books and I didn’t know it was a whole series with one book for each sibling. I think the one i got is like one of the middle siblings but i will report back soon.

Listening:

Had a couple sad emo days (Noah Kahan, Matt Howard, Zach Bryan) but I am back to my regularly scheduled programming now.

Found a great new podcast, Milk Street radio, (yes another food themed one haha) but a section of this episode was an interview with Solveig Melkeraaen about her documentary Tongue Cutters. The documentary is about young children in Norway who basically work in the fishing industry cutting tongues out of cod. So interesting to think about “working” through childhood but also passing on traditions and “art.”

Love you silly chickens <3 See you next week
