(Palo Alto, CA)
I LOVE being home. For some reason, whenever I come back to California im just so relaxed. I don’t know if it's the time difference, waking up at 6am everyday (slay working east coast hours), or just having a parent around and not needing to take care of yourself but i feel so sleepy and calm. I love walking my dog and going to my favorite restaurants and having a backyard (lol @ nyc)
The vibe:

Early mornings, flowers, and sand.
Doing:
BEACH baby. The best part of California is the day trips. Went to Monterrey on Saturday, spent the morning in the aquarium (bad day to go, it was soo crowded) but still fun, I love watching the jellyfish, so mesmerizing. We had lunch on the pier and watched the seals. On Sunday, spent basically the whole day at the beach in Half moon bay with my friends. We’ve been going to this beach together for like 10 years, it was the sweetest day ever.

Wearing:
Ugh, i hate to even say this. I got an Aritzia gift card for my birthday in June and finally went to the store. I have never owned a single thing from there or even really looked at their stuff but unfortunately, I understand the hype. It’s just such great quality. All their stuff is soo basic and pretty boring but fits/ feels so good. I am 100% a thrift girly but if I ever feel like paying 75 dollars for a plain white tank again I will absolutely be coming here. I got this cute little skirt too which I’ve definitely already gotten my money’s worth out of. Good for a casual day or can be dressed up go out.

Watching:
Easy pick this week, went to see a sneak peek of Gran Turismo. This is probably one of the top 10 movies I have ever seen. It was seriously so good, as soon as you can go watch this in theaters. I felt like I was actually holding my breath the whole time. I got into F1 this past year (I didn’t really get it until I saw the Austin race in person, now I love it, they really go zoom zoom. Go alpha tauri <3). The movie isn’t F1 but the racing is so fun to watch and the story is so good. Plus it has Paxton Yoshida Hall in it.
Eating:
I don’t have the biggest sweet tooth, but recently I’ve been really into ice cream. My favorite flavor my whole life was oreo cookies and cream but now it’s probably salted caramel or something with peanut butter – i like a little salty with my sweet. Salt and straw is a Palo Alto fav, they change their flavors all the time (some of them are weird like baked brie and fig or chocolate potato salad, whatever that means ).

Reading:
“Conversations on Love” was unwelcomingly recommended to me by a family friend a couple months ago after my breakup. I did NOT want to read it until my friend told me that it was worth a read. It’s about romantic love but also really about friendship love, family love, etc. To be really honest, so far it’s a little self helpy but every 10 pages, there is something that I really resonate with.
On having hobbies: “You like or love someone when you like or love yourself when you’re with them.” This was about how someone met their partner while taking an evening class they wanted to. I loved this part because this past year I haven’t done a good job of doing activities I enjoy, which I feel like is the best way to meet people (friends or lovers) that align with what you care about and enjoy. I can’t wait to move and be in my activity girl era (horseback riding, basketball, volunteering, book club, art class etc.) Being in your 20’s is such a weird time because we all have amazing friends in our lives but it is so hard to make new ones.

Listening:
This Rick Rubin interview is amazing. He’s so cool ( i had no idea he started def jam records). But just an amazing guy with such good perspective on how to live and be creative. My new guru. Just ordered his book so will be reading that asap.
Also just downloaded the airbuds app and I have been bullying all my friends to download. I’m getting back into listening to music and it’s so fun to see what everyone else is listening to. Plus it gives you a recap at the end of each week with your top artists and songs. You can add it as a widget on your homescreen.
Have a great week little chickens, love you all <3
